HERKLOTS FAMILY
Coat of Arms

coatofarms.jpg

The HERKLOTS Coat of Arms consists of a "crest" of Hercules (a hero of classical myth who possessed exceptional strength) slaying the hydra.

In Greek mythology, the "hydra" was a water monster having nine heads, each of which, if severed, grew back as two.

The motto "FERIO TEGO appears in the "scroll" below the shield.

FERIO TEGO
(Latin)
"ferio": SLAY
"tego": to cover - especially to bury, cover with earth

Literal translation: SLAY [and] BURY
Interpretive translation (ARJH): I STRIKE [the hydra] [and] I DISPOSE OF [the evils].
